Are you more left-brain or right-brain dominant?

    left and right brain

Are you more Left Brain or Right Brain Dominant?

If the brain doesn’t mature evenly, a disconnect can occur between the right hemisphere and the left hemisphere. If one hemisphere becomes “too strong” and takes over, the other side becomes weak. We can call this Hemisphere brain dominance.

How the world looks from the LEFT Brain
The left brain is detailed orientated. It sees the trees rather than the forest. It breaks the world up into small discrete pieces and analyses every piece step by step, looking for a pattern to emerge. It is more interested in things that are man made and mechanical rather than biological or natural. It takes things literally and gives us clarity. It gives us the ability to handle the world around us.

The following are common left brain functions and characteristics:

    • Focus on details
    • Small Muscle control
    • Verbal language
    • Literal
    • IQ
    • Approach behaviour
    • Positive emotions
    • Math Calculations
    • Word reading
    • Explicit memory
    • Practical
    • Curious
    • Activates the immune system
    • Top-down control
Examples of Left Brain Delay Disabilities ( ie A strong Right Brain): Dyslexia, Bipolar disorder, Learning disabilities, Depression, Processing disorders, Memory issues, PTSD, Language Disorders.

How the world looks from the RIGHT Brain
The right hemisphere is all about the Big Picture. It processes all its information at once. There is nothing logical or linear about the right brain. It takes a holistic view of the world. The right brain rules posture, gait and balance. It is also in charge of non verbal communication.

The right brain helps us to read other peoples intentions and emotions. It is where we get our gut feelings or intuition and it comprehends that the world is always changing. Imagination is stored here.

The following are common right brain functions and characteristics:

    • Focus on the big picture
    • Large Muscle control
    • Body language
    • Figurative
    • EQ or emotional intelligence
    • Avoidance behaviour
    • Negative emotions
    • Math reasoning
    • Reading comprehension
    • Implicit memory
    • Unpredictable
    • Cautious
    • Suppresses immune system
    • Bottom up control
Examples of Right brain delay disabilities (ie A strong Left Brain) are: ADHD, OCD, Tourettes, Autism spectrum disorders, Psychosis, Anxiety, Non verbal learning disability, Tics.

      EMR – THE INVISIBLE TOXIN

We are inundated with Electromagnetic radiation (EMR) emitted from our phones, laptops, tablets and computer. All of these electronic devices emit artificial radio frequency, known as Electromagnetic fields (EMF). The intensity of Electromagnetic radiation in our human environment is increasing exponentially, and is currently at a level never experienced before on earth. Hence, there is a growing scientific and social interest in its influence on our health. As research emerges, it is evident that Electromagnetic radiation emitted form our…

          Retained Neonatal Reflexes

          Retained Neonatal Reflexes

Reflexes are predictable and unconscious motor reactions that occur in response to stimuli which are mostly protective in nature. Primitive or neonatal reflexes are involuntary actions developed by the brain during infancy to help survival, for example breastfeeding, movement and grasping, but which should disappear with age. As the brain develops these reflexes are overridden by the higher order thinking centres as certain milestones are reached. Some reflexes are not desirable in the older child or adult and may indicate under-development of parts of the brain. This can affect areas involved in speech, learning, movement and social intelligence if the neonatal reflexes are not integrated or inhibited in children.

            Neuro Emotional Technique

            Neuro Emotional Technique

Emotions are natural and healthy. They are built-in response mechanisms that primarily protect and promote our general survival. However, when our body is out of balance, emotions can literally “short circuit” our nervous system. NET can help bring the body back into balance. NET is a mind-body technique that helps to find and remove the neurological imbalances that can drive stress.

NET can help your body release its lingering emotional charge for good, so that spinal adjustments can stabilize, along with muscle and meridian imbalances. When the Neuro Emotional Component (NEC) is eliminated, the nervous system can function more efficiently. You will feel more relaxed. Recurring headaches, body aches and pains should stabilize or possibly be totally eradicated. If you have suffered extreme trauma this technique is essential to assist in recovery. The wonderful result can be a new level of health and confidence.

              Sacro Occipital Technique

              Sacro Occipital Technique

SOT corrects disorders of the spinal, pelvis or cranial bones (spinal subluxations) which interfere with the secretion, fluctuation and absorption of cerebrospinal fluid. SOT shares with Craniopathy an understanding of the relationship between the foundation of the spine at its tail bone (sacrum), and its top at the back of the head (occiput). SOT uses highly accurate and effective clinical procedures to normalize the relationship between these two bones, which encompass the area known as the dura. The dura covers the entire central nervous system.

By clearing blockages craniosacral therapy will help boost your general well being, reduce stress, improve the quality of your sleep, increase your energy, enhance the functioning of all the body’s organs and specifically relieve nerve problems which have been causing arm and leg pains, headaches, and dizziness.

                Applied Kinesiology

                Applied Kinesiology

Kinesiology is the most comprehensive of the modern natural therapies. It is a potent, safe, powerful, hands-on, drug-free natural approach to holistic health care. It uses muscle testing to identify problem areas, and massage, touch, nutrition, and counselling to restore balance. It works on the philosophy that all stress, imbalances and blockages in the nervous system, can be detected by testing the tension in certain muscles.

Kinesiology has a significant impact on a wide range of health and well-being issues. When all aspects of our lives are balanced the best results follow and we function at our vital best. It is used for the relief of pain, stress and confusion, depressive tendencies, digestive disorders, fatigue and tiredness, back pain, learning disabilities, allergies, nervous disorders, sports injuries, personal development and general well-being. It can enhance learning, eliminate emotional, physical and mental stress. Pin-point and eliminate allergic reactions, help overcome past trauma, identify nutritional deficiency, overcome fears and phobias and aid the healing of muscle injuries.

                  Chiropractic

                  Chiropractic

Chiropractic is the world’s largest non surgical, non drug prescribing primary contact health care profession. It seeks to prevent and treat health problems by using gentle adjustments to the spine in order to correct misalignments. Chiropractors use a wide variety of modalities including Kinesiology, Neural Organisation Technique, Craniopathy, Neuro-Emotional Technique, sacral occipital technique.

Chiropractic is a system of health care that recognizes the body’s innate healing capacity and understands that health may be compromised by interference to the body’s communication system- the nervous system.

                  Benefits

Improved posture and performance, increased strength, improved flexibility, greater resistance to injury, improved ability to sleep and relax, fewer aches and pains, improved tolerance to stress and general enhancement to health. Chiropractic adjustments allow the body to heal itself without drugs or surgery.

By enhancing how the nervous system functions, clients can experience improved body control and vitality. People often report feeling brighter in both mood and mental function, and feel more energetic and lighter as muscle activation and coordination improve
